CAPEX Business Case Assessment
Smart Control. Stable Operations. Cheaper Energy.
Any of Delprosa’s Energy Management services can be extended to test whether new or upgraded assets would strengthen the business case — larger pumps or blowers, additional storage or reservoir capacity, solar PV, battery storage, anaerobic digestion, cogeneration, or biogas storage. The same plant simulation approach is used to model the asset’s effect on operations and on the economics, so you can see the realistic return before committing capital.
Because the simulation models the plant as a whole, the assessment answers not just what the asset costs and earns, but how it interacts with the rest of the operation — whether a larger pump changes how the reservoir is operated, whether generation affects how the plant can shift load, and whether the result holds up across a full year of real conditions rather than a single design case.
What can be tested
- Pumps and blowers. Larger or more efficient units, or additional duty/standby capacity, and how that changes the load shape available for shifting.
- Storage and reservoir capacity. Additional water or storage tank capacity that increases how much load can be deferred into cheaper periods.
- Solar PV and battery storage. On-site generation and storage, dispatched against wholesale, tariff, and demand charge signals together.
- Anaerobic digestion and cogeneration. Biogas utilisation for electricity and heat, and whether a larger engine or biogas storage improves the case.
- Any combination of the above. The simulation treats all assets as one coordinated system, so a combined business case is assessed as a whole rather than asset by asset.
The connection to Energy Management
A CAPEX assessment can be triggered from any of the three Energy Management services — Demand Response, Tariff Optimisation, or Alternate Tariffs — where the initial simulation shows the value would grow with new assets in place. See the Energy Management Overview for how the three services fit together.
Delivering the outcome
Where a business case supports moving ahead, Delprosa can also deliver the engineering design and project management through to commissioning — see Delivery Services.
